Innovative and Traditional Chromatography Solutions for Petroleum Applications

Gas chromatography (GC) is the commonly used analytical separation technique within the petrochemical industry. Supelco carries a variety of packed and capillary GC columns for petroleum applications.

Certain petroleum applications, such as the identification of C5-C15 n-alkanes, BTEX, and other aromatic compounds in gasoline, or FAME profiling in biodiesel, can be challenging, and require the use of a highly polar column. The recently launched extremely polar SLB®-IL111 GC column – a Supelco innovative product, based on ionic liquids – is an ideal choice for performing these analyses. This column has a 270 °C temperature limit and extreme selectivity for polarizable analytes, such as aromatics and FAMEs.

Visit our ionic liquid GC columns literature page to read or download the technical report SLB-IL111 for Petroleum Applications, which clearly demonstrates the suitability of the SLB-IL111 for group separation analyses of aromatics from aliphatics, and FAMEs from aliphatics.

Supelco also offers the traditional portfolio of GC columns for a range of analyses, including purity, boiling point composition, aromatics, light hydrocarbons, fluorocarbons, and sulfur-containing compounds in petroleum products. View the entire portfolio of GC Columns for the petroleum industry.
