CRM Producer Achieves Accreditation to ISO Guide 34
Jul 16 2010
Paragon Scientific Limited (UK) has achieved double accreditation by adding ISO Guide 34, the premier standard for CRM producers, to their existing ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
Paragon Scientific Limited has been accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 for some time, which endorses the quality of their analytical and calibration work. They have now been awarded additional accreditation to ISO Guide 34:2000. This not only recognises the quality of Paragon’s laboratory work but also gives approval to their processes for manufacturing and distributing CRM’s. ISO Guide 34 is the premier standard for CRM producers and recognises and endorses Paragon’s competence to produce, test and certify these materials at the highest possible level. Their range of ISO 17025 standards are now dual certified to both ISO 17025 and ISO Guide 34 under UKAS.
To gain this coveted award, Paragon have had to demonstrate the quality of their processes including but not limited to sourcing of raw materials, production planning and environmental control, reference material preparation and testing, evaluation and confirmation of the stability and homogeneity of their products, assignment of CRM certified values, establishing tracebility and quantifying uncertainty of measurements, production of detailed certification, packaging and distributing finished product and customer service support provided to customers using their CRM’s.
ISO Guide 34 provides the highest level of Quality Assurance, confirming the expertise of the manufacturer, the integrity of the production systems and the reliability of the standards.
While Paragon have only recently received this award, they have been working to these standards for some time and existing users of our materials have already been receiving the benefit of our improved quality systems.
Companies working to or intending to gain accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 (the standard for laboratory competence) are required to check the quality and validity of their work and that calls for the use of Certified Reference Materials from a suitably qualified source. ISO Guide 34 will increasingly become the standard CRM suppliers will have to meet. Using Certified Reference Materials also gives laboratories confidence in the service they are providing to their customers.
