Utilize Hydrogen as a Carrier Gas for Your GC and Reduce Costs: Download the PAC Note
Jan 25 2012
In today’s labs, chromatographers are more likely to choose hydrogen as a carrier gas due to the recent increases in helium prices and its supply shortage issues. Helium prices are on average are 4 times higher than Hydrogen, and it is expected to increase 10-15% year over year. An average lab utilizing 5 to 10 Gas Chromatography (GC) systems can save up to several thousands of dollars per year in operating costs just by changing the carrier gas to Hydrogen. The other major benefit of utilizing hydrogen is that it can dramatically reduce the time required to run an analysis.
Click here to download the “Using Hydrogen as a Carrier Gas: Fast Detailed Hydrocarbon Analysis (DHA) analog to ASTM D6730” application note by PAC to compare the results between using hydrogen and helium as a carrier gas and the numerous benefits utilizing hydrogen provides.
The system utilized for this application is the AC Analytical Controls Detailed Hydrocarbon Analysis analyzer from PAC. It offers a full range of detailed hydrocarbon analyzers for flexible and reliable component identification. The unique DHA Combi system design accommodates the analysis of both light petroleum streams and the light end in crude oil.
