Automated Smoke Point Analyser is Officially Part of ASTM D1322
Feb 13 2014
AD Systems’ (France) SP10 Automated Smoke Point Analyser is now part of ASTM D1322, The Standard Test Method for Smoke Point of Kerosine and Aviation Turbine Fuel. The designation is ASTM D1322-12 and IP 598. The SP10 is accepted for reporting results for certification of jet fuels under ASTM D1655, The Standard Specification for Aviation Turbine Fuels. This unique, automated instrument, employs a patented system based on a CCD camera that measures the flame. The flame image is digitalised. The dedicated software determines the height of the flame when its shape corresponds to the one described in the D1322 test method. This specific flame is the one with the maximum height without smoke generation. The SP10 performs three determinations of the flame heights, automatically applies the barometric correction, and reports the averaged value in strict accordance with the test method.
